Kentucky Chapter American Academy of Pediatrics
Dedicated to the health and well-being of infants, children, adolescents and young adults.
Welcome to the Kentucky Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics (KY AAP) Residents page! Pediatric residents play a key role in the KY AAP. Chief residents are liaisons to the Board of Directors and have an active voice in the policies and programs of the Chapter. The KY AAP hosts a Resident Career Day overnight event each Fall for PL2s which highlights career opportunities, loan forgiveness, applying for a fellowship and work/life balance. In addition, once per state legislative session, the KY AAP participates in Children’s Legislative Advocacy Day in the state Capitol with a focus on active bills that the chapter supports for passage. All KY residency programs have the opportunity to send interested residents to this unique experience. For more information on opportunities for residents with the KY Chapter, contact us.
The AAP is organized into state chapters and chapters are clustered into districts. Kentucky is in District IV. Connect with your national AAP District IV, Section on Pediatric Trainees (SOPT) medical student representative here.
Every residency program designates a Program Delegate(s) to represent their organization in SOPT. SOPT created a national advocacy campaign in 2005, and has been building momentum ever since.
The AAP also offers CATCH grants, Dyson Awards, and other support to enable your own local advocacy work.
